International reserves
The National Bank of Ukraine has downgraded its forecast for the volume of international reserves at the end of 2024 from $44.7 billion to $40.4 billion.
As stated by Deputy Head of the NBU Sergei Nikolaychuk, the level of reserves over the forecast horizon remains quite high and comfortable and such that it allows for exchange rate stability.
The NBU uses reserves to intervene in the foreign exchange market to compensate for the structural deficit that arose after the outbreak of war, as well as to avoid excessive exchange rate fluctuations.
