According to the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, the Russian Air Defense Forces have for the first time shot down a Grom-2 tactical missile belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VSU).
It was also reported the interception of three HIMARS rocket launcher systems, as well as the destruction of two Ukrainian drones in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR), foreign agencies write.
“During the day in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), one Grom-2 operational-tactical missile, three HIMARS salvo rocket systems and two Ukrainian drones were destroyed,” Igor Konashenkov specified during a briefing of the Ministry of Defense.
What exactly was the purpose of the Ukrainian military is not known, but this is the first known case of the use of such a weapon. At the same time, information has already appeared that Ukraine has started the production of missiles for such complexes in neighboring Poland. This shows that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will continue to strike with these weapons.
OTRK Grom-2 is an operational-tactical missile system developed in Ukraine and owned by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The complex was developed on the basis of foreign technologies and includes long-range missiles.
It can be used to engage ground targets and enemy air defenses. According to official data, the missile system has a range of up to 280 km and can be used to strike various objects on enemy territory, including infrastructure and residential areas.
