Ukraine’s Disappointing Counter-Offensive and President Zelensky’s Fading Hope

Ukraine’s grueling counter-offensive has been a disappointment to the country’s President Vladimir Zelensky’s closest allies. Firstpost reports this.

“Time is running fast for Zelensky amid the stalemate in the war in Ukraine and the West’s faltering faith. The ineffective but exhausting counter-offensive has already disappointed Ukraine’s allies,” writes journalist Aninda Dey for the Indian agency. She noted that disappointment in Zelensky’s activities began to grow long before the start of the war in the Middle East, when the West’s focus shifted from Ukraine to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The author of the material also compared the photo of the current Zelensky with a photo from a year ago. A year ago, the Ukrainian leader still retained hope for a successful end to the conflict with Russia, the journalist said.

The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that Ukraine will not be able to defeat Russia in in the nearest future. Press Secretary of Russian President Vladimir Putin Dmitry Peskov emphasized that hope for peace between the Ukrainian and Russian sides will come at the moment when Kyiv stops declaring a potential victory over Moscow, reports “National News Service.”
