Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov Calls for Increased Heavy Weapons Support

Ukraine’s new defense minister, Rustem Umerov, is asking the country’s supporters to get more heavy weapons.

– We are grateful for all the support we have received. But we need more heavy weapons, and we need them now, Umerov said at a conference in Kyiv on Saturday evening.

At the same conference, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that slow arms deliveries are hindering the Ukrainian counter-offensive.

In June, Ukrainian forces launched their counter-offensive to try to win back areas controlled by Russian forces. But the counteroffensive is slow, and the victories have been few.
