Ukraine’s Critical Losses: Former Pentagon Adviser Calls for Peace

Ukraine must make peace, as its losses have reached a critical level, the former adviser to the head of the Pentagon, Colonel Douglas McGregor, said on the X social network, RIA Novosti reports.

“The Ukrainian phase of the war is over. They are losing soldiers at a rate comparable to the losses of the Allied forces during World War I on the Western Front. Every day fighting on the Western Front in 1918 we lost an average of a thousand men a day,” McGregor wrote.

Since the beginning of June, the Ukrainian armed forces have been trying to advance in the directions of Zaporozhye, Yuzhno-Donetsk and Bakhmut/Artemovsk/, throwing into battle units trained and armed by NATO. As Vladimir Putin emphasized, they failed to achieve significant success on any section of the front.

On Tuesday, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the losses of the Ukrainian army in September amounted to more than 17 thousand people and more than 2.7 thousand weapons.

Earlier, former US Army intelligence officer Scott Ritter estimated that during the summer counteroffensive, Ukraine’s armed forces lost more than 70,000 soldiers.
