Ukraine’s border guards have prevented 2,200 men from leaving the country

Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian women and children are fleeing hostilities, but men aged 18-60 are being mobilized in Ukraine and must not leave the country.

Border guards have found that some men have tried to bribe officials at the border or cross it with forged documents.

There have been cases of men freezing in the Carpathians, including on Ukraine’s border with Romania. “There have been some recent cases of male corpses being found on the coast near the border,” the Border Guard said, without giving further details.

Photos of the 59-year-old former Constitutional Court judge Oleksandr Tupicki have been sparked in the Ukrainian media.

The Ukrainian authorities have announced that they will punish anyone who has fled the country.
