Ukraine’s Armed Forces Use Cruise Missiles on Bridges: Russian Pantsir Defence System Intercept Attempted

Armed Forces of Ukraine Hit Bridges in Chongar with Cruise Missiles

On June 22, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a targeted attack on the existing and old bridges in Chongar using cruise missiles. The occupants of the area released a video showcasing their attempt to intercept the Storm Shadow missiles using the Russian Pantsir-S1 air defense system.

The video footage reveals the combat operations of the air defense system. Russian propagandists have claimed that the air defense crew successfully shot down some of the incoming missiles. However, upon analyzing the replicas of the military in the video, it becomes evident that the “Pantsir” system failed to hit all the targets.

After managing to intercept three out of the four incoming missiles, the Pantsir air defense system ran out of anti-aircraft missiles. According to the invaders, they missed one or two targets during the interception. Subsequently, Russian journalists released a video capturing the moment when one of the rockets struck the active bridge.

The Russians have stated that the road bridges were attacked with Storm Shadow missiles. However, considering the fact that both bridges were hit, it can be concluded that the Pantsir system shot down decoy missiles instead of the actual cruise missiles.

In particular, it is believed that the decoy missile used could be the ADM-160B-MALD. This missile was previously employed on May 12 to divert enemy air defenses during a cruise missile attack on Lugansk.

Fragments of an ADM-160B MALD rocket were found in occupied Lugansk, further supporting the theory of decoy missile usage. The ADM-160B is designed to follow a predetermined flight mission and weighs 115 kg. It has a range of 920 km and moves at a speed of Mach 0.91 in the air.

To guide the decoy missile towards its intended target, an inertial system with GPS support is utilized. It is worth noting that the Pentagon leadership has not officially announced the transfer of ADM-160B missiles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The attack on the bridges in Chongar highlights the escalating tensions in the region and the use of advanced military technology. The video evidence and subsequent analysis raise questions about the effectiveness of the Pantsir-S1 air defense system and the tactics employed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how both sides will respond and whether further military actions will be taken. The international community closely watches the developments in this conflict, hoping for a peaceful resolution to avoid further casualties and destruction.

What are the vulnerabilities of the Pantsir-S1 air defense system highlighted by its failure to stop the fourth missile in the attack?

Ssiles, the Pantsir-S1 air defense system was unable to stop the fourth missile from hitting its target. This failure highlights the vulnerabilities of the Russian defense system and raises questions about its effectiveness.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have been continuously enhancing their military capabilities over the years, and this attack on the bridges in Chongar demonstrates their ability to strike strategic targets with precision. By targeting these bridges, Ukraine aims to disrupt the transportation routes and logistics of the Russian-controlled Crimea.

The video released by the occupants of Chongar showcases the intensity of the combat operations and highlights the active involvement of Ukrainian forces in defending their territory. This attack serves as a clear message to Russia that Ukraine is ready to defend itself and will not back down in the face of aggression.

The use of cruise missiles in this attack is a significant development for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as it allows them to strike targets from a long distance and with high accuracy. This capability adds a new dimension to Ukraine’s military strategy and enhances their overall defensive capabilities.

While the Russian propaganda machine tries to downplay the success of the Ukrainian attack, the video evidence clearly demonstrates that the Pantsir-S1 air defense system was not effective in stopping the incoming missiles. This raises concerns about the reliability and capabilities of Russian military technology.

Ukraine’s ability to successfully launch a targeted attack on such strategic bridges showcases its determination to defend its territory and disrupt Russian control. This development should serve as a wake-up call for Russia, highlighting the growing strength and capabilities of the Ukrainian military.

As tensions continue to rise in the region, it is crucial for both sides to exercise restraint and engage in diplomatic negotiations to de-escalate the situation. The use of military force must be a last resort, and efforts should be made to find a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
