Ukraine’s airspace becomes safer with Western arms deliveries / Article

Currently, despite the tactical pause, Russian forces continue their attacks in Ukraine. In the future, Russia will continue to attack in order to maintain the pace of attacks and not give the initiative to Ukrainian forces.

As soon as the Russian High Command realizes that full-fledged attacks can be resumed, they will become much more intense and Russian forces could begin to advance.

“Ukrainian armed forces have chosen quite effective tactics after the help of Western countries. We see that the Ukrainians are simply destroying ammunition depots, oil depots, also personnel, headquarters of the Russian armed forces. And this, of course, has instilled quite a lot of respect in the Russian armed forces,” said Slaidins.

However, without the help of the West, the Ukrainian forces would have already collapsed because they would not be able to withstand the intensity of the Russian attack.

Thanks to the deliveries, Ukrainian airspace is becoming safer. True, using aviation, shelling from the airspace of Belarus and Russia continues, but these activities are significantly limited in the war zone.

“It is a very big plus if you can cover the airspace and ground troops can operate much more effectively,” explained Slaidiņš.

At the same time, the artillery war is currently ongoing, and Ukraine’s capabilities in it are gradually growing thanks to modern artillery systems from Germany, France, the USA. However, training with the new systems required some time.

At the same time, the expert drew attention to the fact that Russia is acting in such a way as to prolong this conflict. “It is absolutely clear that Russia will do everything. It will not be the case that Putin will say: sorry, sorry, we were wrong, let’s withdraw the troops. (..)

There is no need to cherish any illusions that it will all end soon,” said Slaidiņš.

CONTEXT:

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to start invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine. Putin claimed that NATO was going to use Ukraine as a springboard for aggression against Russia, although there was no evidence for these claims. Ukraine believes that Putin’s real goal is to destroy Ukrainian statehood and bring the territory under Moscow’s control.

Russia’s aggression against Ukraine has caused a general condemnation of the international communityagainst Russia more and more sanctions are introduced. Many western companies have decided to leave the Russian market.
