The air defense forces of Ukraine intercepted a Russian Kh-47M2 “Kinzhal” hypersonic missile in the sky over the Kyiv region yesterday afternoon, the commander of the Air Force of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, reported in Telegram, Ukrinform reported.
“One downed “Dagger” over Kiev region! No comment…” remarked the commander.
As the Air Force press service added in Telegram, the Russians fired several “Daggers” around 14:15 Kyiv time. At 14:20, hits were reported in the area of Starokonstantinov, Khmelnytskyi region. Already at 14:20!
“Please note that only 10 minutes passed from the time the air alert was activated to the time the missiles hit central Ukraine,” the Air Force stressed.
It is noted that the Russian MiG-31Ks fired a total of three Kh-47M2 “Dagger” air-launched ballistic missiles.
The missiles, fired from the airspace over Russia’s Tula region, were aimed at Kiev and Starokonstantinov.
One Kh-47M2 “Kinzhal” missile was destroyed over Kyiv region by the air defense unit of the Air Force of Ukraine.
“Of course, we do not comment on the consequences of the hits/misses in Khmelnytskyi region. “Several enemy targets we previously reported were likely simulations created by enemy electronic warfare systems,” the Air Force noted.
The military emphasized that they will continue to report the direction of movement of all approaching targets in a timely manner, as it is impossible to immediately determine whether it is an actual “Dagger” or a simulation, a so-called “false target”.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, yesterday afternoon, following an airstrike warning in Kyiv, explosions were heard in the city.
Yesterday there was another alarm about an air attack in Ukraine due to the take-off of the Russian MiG-31K with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles./BTA
