Military Ukraine admitted that he had withdrawn his troops from the city solderwhich is in the region Donetsk which are partially controlled pro-Russian separatists. The acknowledgment was made by Kiev after earlier this month, Moscow claimed that its troops had succeeded in controlling Soledar.
“After months of heavy fighting, including in recent weeks, the Armed Forces of Ukraine abandoned (Soledar) and withdrew along its outskirts to preparatory positions,” Ukrainian military spokesman Sergiy Cherevaty said. AFPWednesday (25/1/2023).
Cherevaty did not disclose further to AFP the question of when the Ukrainian troops will withdraw from Soledar. But he said the maneuvers had been carefully planned.
“While some (soldiers) are holding the outskirts of Soledar, others are establishing defensive lines, fortifying new points, while at the same time delivering massive attacks against the enemy,” Cherevaty told AFP.
Cherevaty also emphasized that there were no “mass arrests” or “sieges” of Ukrainian troops in Soledar.
Mercenary group RussiaWagner, who claims to have initiated the attack on Soledar, has claimed control of the town on January 11.
Russia’s Defense Ministry, in a statement about two days later, said Moscow forces had taken control of the salt-mining town, which before the war had about 10,000 residents.
