Stoltenberg on Ukraine’s accession to NATO: it will happen, but not tomorrow

Alliance member states must do more for states wishing to join NATO, Stoltenberg stressed.

Ukraine and Georgia will become NATO members, but this will not happen in the near future. About it stated Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a press conference on Tuesday 5 October.

Stoltenberg expressed confidence that Ukraine and Georgia will join NATO, but “this is not a matter of tomorrow.”

“I think it is obvious that this will not happen tomorrow, but they will join. Therefore, my message to the NATO allies, and what we talked about yesterday with the President of the United States, is this: we need to step up efforts and do more for these countries wishing to join. (in NATO – ed.) “, – said Stoltenberg.

We will remind, during the YES Brainstorming Forum 2021 in Kiev, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine is ready to become a NATO member and without it “the Alliance will lose”.

Ukraine will not ask the United States for status outside NATO
