Ukraine, work for refugees, bridge between Caltanissetta and Poland
Creating a bridge between Poland and Caltanissetta to help Ukrainian refugees not only to get to the city but also to be able to do a job. The initiative was born from an idea of Father Alessandro Giambra who went to Poland, right on the border with Ukraine, where he was able to closely verify the tragedy that the refugees continue to experience. Here he met Father Marek Machała, director of the department of the pastoral care of families of the Archdiocese of Przemyśl and diocesan pastor of migrants, and the volunteer Anna Szpak, today in Caltanissetta to learn about the realities of the territory and bear their testimony. “Now at the border they help many widows, many orphans – explains Father Alessandro – and Father Marek needs to distribute these thousands of people who are guests in their facilities, and who do not know where to go. Many of them have already gone to France, in America. In Caltanissetta we want to create, with the involvement of Caritas, the Red Cross, Etnos, the San Filippo Apostolo association, and all those who want to make themselves available, a bridge to bring people who must not be alone. hosted, but they have to fit in. Nurses, cooks, or other qualifications, what is needed will be communicated and people will come who can carry out these jobs. “.
