Ukraine: Della Vedova at the reconstruction conference
Undersecretary Benedetto Della Vedova will lead the Italian delegation to the Ukraine Recovery Conference on 4 and 5 July in Lugano. At the center of the conference, he underlined a note from the Farnesina, the prospects for the future reconstruction of Ukraine, from an economic and infrastructural point of view, but also from a social and humanitarian point of view. He expects the participation of Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, as well as representatives of 36 countries and 13 international organizations. The event, chaired by Ignazio Cassis, president of the Swiss Confederation, will be an opportunity to reaffirm the firm support of Italy and its partners for Ukraine, its resistance and future reconstruction, as well as the European path undertaken. “With the bombs that continue to fall on the cities, it seems difficult to talk about reconstruction – said Della Vedova – but right now we must think about Ukraine’s recovery path, which will intertwine with its European path. Italy, with businesses, local authorities and the third sector, it is ready to support Ukraine in the reconstruction, as well as in the continuation of the reform process “.
