Ship with cereals arrived in Istanbul
The ship that departed from Odessa, Ukraine, loaded with grain last Monday arrived in Istanbul, Turkey last night for inspection. It is the first ship to carry grain from Ukraine across the Black Sea since Russia invaded the country last February. The Razoni, loaded with about 26 thousand tons of corn, left Odessa last Monday. She arrived at the entrance to the Bosphorus on the Black Sea in Istanbul and is now at anchor in a designated place, informs the Turkish Ministry of Defense via social media. Representatives from Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and the UN will board and inspect the ship in the morning. The inspections aim to ensure that ships are not used as a means of smuggling weapons. Subsequently the ship, which flies the flag of Sierra Leone, will pass through the Bosphorus, sail in the Mediterranean and arrive in Lebanon. The supplies from Ukraine are expected to bring millions of tons of cereals destined for export to world markets. The warring parties plus Turkey signed an agreement, mediated by the UN, on July 22, to allow exports from three Ukrainian ports. They also agreed on the creation of a control center in Istanbul.
