Ukraine wants Russian area missiles, the consequences could be dire

Ukraine is eager to allow the United States and its allies to use weapons or long-range missiles to strike Russian territory. If granted, the decision will be a double-edged sword.

The US supplies Ukraine with long-range weapons such as the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) ballistic missiles that can reach targets 300 kilometers away. At the same time, Britain and France are using Storm Shadow missiles, which can hit targets as far as 550 kilometers. Both are limited to use only in areas of Ukraine invaded by Russia.

However, recently there have been signs that the US and its allies have agreed to Ukraine’s request. Ukraine wants to destroy Russian aircraft-launching sites, and Russian President Vladimir Putin is warning that a Western-backed attack on Russian soil would draw NATO countries into war .

If implemented, Ukraine will indeed be more effective in fighting Russia. Russia relies on bases outside of Ukrainian missile range to launch airstrikes and is stockpiling large quantities of material in its own country, giving them a huge advantage.
