MADRID, 29 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate indicated this Thursday that the Russian authorities would be recruiting “dozens” of “influential” figures to spread the Kremlin’s rhetoric and try to influence the social and political situation in Ukraine.
«I can’t give specific names now. There are lists of people on whom the enemy works, and there is the task of attracting them to spread their rhetoric (…) There are dozens of people, and yes, we are talking about influential categories,” said Ukrainian Intelligence spokesman Andri Yusov.
Likewise, Yusov highlighted during an interview for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and reported by Ukrinform that Moscow can no longer trust the people who until now carried out this job because their links with the Kremlin have already been discovered and “they have no influence”.
According to Yusov, the Kremlin is now also focusing its task on taking over as many websites and social media accounts as possible, especially on the Telegram messaging platform, to spread its disinformation about the current situation through there.
Ukrainian authorities, including President Volodymyr Zelensky, already pointed out in the fall of last year that Russia was preparing a disinformation campaign to destabilize Ukraine, overthrow the government and impose a similar one.
