MOSCOW – Ministry of Defense Russia on Tuesday (28/2/2023) announced that Ukraine attempted to carry out drone strikes against civilian infrastructure targets in two regions of southern Russia on Monday night.

However, the ministry said, the attempted attack failed. Neither the government nor the Ukrainian military commented on the announcement.

“Overnight, the Kiev authorities attempted to use unmanned aerial vehicles to attack civilian infrastructure facilities in the Krasnodar and Adygea regions,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement, as quoted. Reuters.

According to the ministry, Russia’s anti-drone defense system had repelled the attacks, causing the Ukrainian drones to veer off course and fail to do any damage.

“Both drones lost control and deviated from their flight paths. One fell onto the pitch, the other, deviating from its trajectory, missed its intended target,” he said.

But Russia’s state news agency earlier reported there was a fire at an oil depot in the Krasnodar region, about 240 kilometers (149 miles) southeast of Crimea, after a drone was seen flying overhead.
