Ukraine Traffic Restrictions and Weather Warnings: January 7-9

Due to bad weather, traffic restrictions may be introduced on a number of major roads to clear snow. Drivers are advised not to travel in their own vehicles unless absolutely necessary.

“Starting Sunday, heavy rainfall, a sharp drop in temperature and traffic complications on roads are expected in Ukraine. And if at the end of last year this affected only a few areas, this time we can expect bad weather for almost a month throughout the country,” the statement says. message.

According to him, from Sunday, January 7, the Recovery Agency will operate a 24-hour weather response headquarters.

The Agency urged people not to travel in their own transport unless absolutely necessary.

“If you do go out on the roads, take snow chains for your wheels and extra fuel. It is also advisable to have a thermos with hot tea or coffee,” Nayem added.

He also added that businesses should carefully plan logistics. It is advisable for drivers of large vehicles to use the parking areas that exist along state roads.

According to Nayem, the Recovery Agency will operate a 24-hour hotline: +38 067 400 60 80. In case of emergencies, they advise calling the numbers: 101, 102 and 103.

“Bad weather can lead to traffic complications on roads and the need to close them or partially restrict traffic in order to clear the snow,” the Recovery Agency emphasized.

According to Nayem, such restrictions could be introduced on the following main roads:

  • M-05 Kyiv-Odessa
  • M-30 Stryi-Uman-Dnepr-Izvarino M-30 Stryi-Uman-Izvarino
  • M-13 Kropyvnytskyi-Platonovo
  • M-22 Poltava-Alexandria M-22 Poltava-Alexandria
  • H-08 Boryspil-Dnepr-Zaporozhye-Zaporozhye-Mariupol
  • N-11 Dnepr-Nikolaev
  • N-24 Blagoveshchenskoe-Nikolaev
  • N-31 Dnepr-Tsarichanka-Kobelyaki-Reshetylovka and on other main routes, taking into account the situation.

The Agency also added, with reference to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, that there will be difficult weather conditions in the country on January 7-9. The reason is Arctic air from northern Europe and the formation of an active cyclone in the south of the country.
