Ukraine increased natural gas production, which for the first time in history made it possible to abandon gas imports.
This was stated by the head of the board of NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” Alexey Chernyshov, noting that in the last year own production has increased by 7%, and this is very significant, UNIAN reported.
“Our production is concentrated mainly in the Poltava and Kharkiv regions and we not only kept it, we increased it. This allowed us to actually go into this winter without importing natural gas from other countries. For the first time in the history of Ukraine, such an event has happened, we will go through this winter in our own gas account,” said Chernyshov.
He also noted that the situation was affected by the drop in consumption due to the war, as there were fewer residential and industrial subscribers. But there are already signals of increasing activity and, accordingly, gas consumption in the economy.
