The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned Ukrainians not to visit Russia and called on its citizens on its territory to leave. The agency did so in a travel recommendation issued today, Reuters reported.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Ukrainian citizens refrain from any travel to Russia, and those who are on the territory of this country to leave it immediately,” the ministry said.

Ukraine has called on the West to impose new sanctions on Russia against the economy and President Vladimir Putin’s inner circle.

Yesterday, Western countries punished Russia with new sanctions for ordering troops to enter eastern Ukraine, and threatened to go further if Moscow launched a full-scale invasion of its neighbor.

“Yesterday, the first decisive steps were taken and we are grateful for that,” Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba wrote on Twitter. “Now the pressure must continue to stop Putin. Hit his economy and his close friends. Hit more. Hit hard. Hit now.”

The first, limited round of EU sanctions against Russia is expected to take effect today at 2 pm GMT, a senior European diplomat said after foreign ministers agreed in principle yesterday to add more politicians to the blacklist and to target sanctions. against securities trading.
