The Kremlin has criticized the planned supply of tanks to Ukraine as militarily useless but politically extremely dangerous. “These tanks will burn like all the rest,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on reports on US readiness to supply tanks to Ukraine. Russian experts consider the domestically produced T-90 tank to be superior and tried and tested in wars.
At the same time, the 55-year-old complained that “the situation in Europe and the world is actually very, very tense” due to Western politics. There are currently no prospects of a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
The plan to supply tanks to Ukraine to boost its combat capability is doomed to fail, Peskov said. “This is a clear overestimation of the additional potential they give to the Ukrainian armed forces.” It is also clear that there are problems in NATO providing so many tanks.
According to Peskov, the West is wrong in believing that European security can be achieved by strengthening the Ukrainian army and continuing the war. “That’s an absurd belief, that’s a dead end,” said Peskow. Moscow sees the development as confirmation of its actions against Ukraine, he said, referring to Ukrainian threats to attack cities in Russia. Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin has repeatedly claimed that he forestalled Ukraine with the Russian attack.
