According to him, the promise will be canceled if his country is threatened by Moscow.
“Today we have no weapons or security. We have lost part of our territory, which is wider than Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium. And, most importantly, we have lost millions of our citizens. None of this exists,” Zelensky said. in the forum.
The US ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said so far there was no goodwill from Washington or its allies to arm Ukraine with nuclear weapons.
The announcement was made at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, which was held after Moscow recognized Donetsk and Luhank, two regions in eastern Ukraine controlled by pro-Moscow separatists, as independent countries.
The American diplomat is also not convinced by Zelensky’s threat that Ukraine wants to become a nuclear-armed state.
“The US and our allies have no intention of supplying Ukraine with nuclear weapons, and Ukraine does not want them,” he said Russia Today, Tuesday (22/2/2022).
