Two patients connected to ventilators in one of the hospitals in the Lviv region of Ukraine died due to a lack of electricity, the police said on Sunday. Despite the failure in the facility, the generator was not turned on. An investigation has been initiated.

The patients stayed in the intensive care unit of the hospital in Żółkiew.
The police found that there was no electricity for 80 minutes in the Zhovkva facility on Friday. During this time, two local residents aged 61 and 66 who were connected to respirators died. The initial cause of death is respiratory failure, police said.
It has not been specified whether these were patients infected with the coronavirus.
According to the police, there are two generators in the hospital in the event of an electricity failure, but they were not used.
Criminal proceedings were initiated in the case. The circumstances of the event are determined.
