After receiving no firm commitment from new Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu, Ukraine’s representatives reportedly voted against recent anti-Israel resolutions.
In its report on Saturday (12/31/2022), Axios quoted unnamed Ukrainian and Israeli officials as saying the two leaders had a telephone conversation on Friday.
Netanyahu reportedly asked Zelensky to vote against, or at least abstain from voting on, a UN General Assembly resolution asking the International Court of Justice to issue a legal opinion on Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories.

Those conversations allegedly preceded Kiev’s refusal to challenge the document during a UN committee vote several weeks ago, according to Axios.
The article claims that during the call, Zelensky made it clear that Ukraine could change sides if Netanyahu promises military aid to Kiev during its conflict with Russia.
“While Netanyahu reportedly said he was ready to discuss Zelensky’s future demands, the Israeli prime minister has refrained from making firm commitments,” the Axios report said.

According to the agency, the Ukrainian head of state was dissatisfied with Netanyahu’s response and instructed the Ukrainian UN envoy not to participate in the vote at all.
