kyiv has announced, due to a lack of agreement on the part of the Russians, the suspension this Sunday of the humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians from eastern Ukraine.
No ceasefire, no humanitarian corridors
Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Verechtchoukwrote on Telegram that this Sunday morning the Ukrainian authorities did not succeed “to negotiate a ceasefire” on the evacuation routes with the Russian occupiers.
“That’s why, no humanitarian corridor” unfortunately will not be open today to evacuate residents of the east of the country, she added. “We are sparing no effort to ensure that the humanitarian corridors resume as soon as possible, also indicated this official”, reports Le Figaro.
A request for the evacuation of wounded servicemen from the city of Mariupol
In the process, Iryna Verechtchouk also said that she asked the Russians to open an evacuation route for wounded soldiers from the city of Mariupol, devastated by the fighting.
On his side, Volodymyr Zelensky warned the Kremlin against “elimination” of the last Ukrainian soldiers present in Mariupol. Failure to observe this warning will terminate any “peace negotiation“with Moscow, stressed the Ukrainian president.
