Reactions from Ukraine to the statements of the American actor, composer and singer Jared Leto who said that he missed Russia and will return with concerts after the “trouble” (ie the invasion of Ukraine) is over.
Ukrainians were disturbed over the weekend by Leto – the Oscar-winning actor and singer of Thirty Seconds to Mars – who lamented his inability to play concerts in Russia during his comments at a concert in Belgrade last week.
“We miss you guys, you know it. I tell you, one day when all these problems are over, we will come to visit you in your hometown. We’ll go to St. Petersburg, Moscow, we’ll go to Kiev, we’ll party and hang out with everyone like we should.”Leto said while playing with the band.
Jared Leto’s “feeling the Russian energy” and his wish to perform in Russia is an insult to those sacrificing lives to defend freedom.
There can be no appeasement for Russia when it continues its attempts to solve “problem” of Ukraine’s very existence.

In several concert videos posted by fans over the weekend, Leto asked how many people in the audience were from Russia and, after a loud roar, said that “felt [λίγη] Russian energy there tonight”.
Ukraine’s foreign ministry said in a statement on Sunday that Leto’s desire to appear in Russia was an insult to Ukrainians who “sacrifice” their lives to “defend freedom” against Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin’s ongoing large-scale incursion.
“There can be no appeasement for Russia when it continues its efforts to solve the ‘problem’ of Ukraine’s very existence,” the ministry said.
However, Leto – who won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 2014 for his role in “Dallas Buyers Club” – has previously supported Ukraine in its resistance to Putin’s onslaught.
