A Ukrainian fighter entrenched in the Azovstal steel factory in Mariupol makes an urgent appeal for help on Facebook† Serhi Volynsky, commander of the 36th Marine Brigade, calls on “the higher forces” to find a solution to their rescue. “We are waiting for the result of your actions… Time passes, and time is our life!” he writes.
According to information from Kiev and Moscow, the last women, children and the elderly were evacuated from the factory yesterday. During the evacuation, three Ukrainian soldiers were killed and six injured, Volynsky writes. Observers assume that Russian troops now want to take Azovstal as soon as possible in order to announce the complete capture of Mariupol.
“It’s like I’m on a hellish reality show where we fight for our lives as soldiers and the whole world is watching the interesting play!” writes 30-year-old Volynsky. “Scenarios like this are used in movies and series. The only difference is that it’s not a movie and we’re not fictional characters! This is real life! Pain, suffering, hunger, torment, tears, fear, death – all real!”
