Ukraine has asked Germany for long-range air-to-surface missiles, the Taurus, ahead of a counterattack.
The Taurus has a range of 500 kilometers, which is twice as long as the long-range missile Storm Shadow provided by Britain to Ukraine.

A spokesman for Germany’s Ministry of Defense confirmed on the 27th local time that Ukraine had recently requested support for the long-range missile Taurus.
A spokesman for the German Ministry of Defense did not say whether Germany would support the Taurus.
The Taurus missile is an air-to-surface cruise missile developed jointly by Germany and Sweden and can reach a range of up to 500 km.
South Korea also signed an introduction contract in 2013 to strike North Korea’s key facilities with F-15K fighter jets south of the armistice line and deployed them in combat.
Ukraine is already using the Storm Shadow, a cruise missile with a range of 250 km from the UK, in combat.
Taurus has twice the range of Storm Shadow.
If Taurus is supported, the level of Ukraine’s counterattack is expected to be higher than expected.
The U.S. supported the Himas, or high-speed mobile artillery rocket system, with a range of 80 kilometers.
However, it is refusing to support the ATACMS missile with a range of about 300 km.
This is because Ukraine is concerned about the possibility of attacking the Russian mainland.
Amidst the conflicting choices between Britain and the United States, attention is focused on whether Germany will support Taurus.
