Ukraine’s ambassador to the UN, Serhiy Kislitsa, told the UN Security Council that “Russia’s demilitarization is under way,” the Associated Press and BTA reported.

He said the Russian occupiers had lost more than 17,000 troops, more than 1,700 armored vehicles and nearly 600 tanks since the invasion of Ukraine. He added that Russia had also lost 300 artillery systems, 127 aircraft and 129 helicopters, nearly 100 missile systems, 54 air defense systems and seven ships.

Kislitsa said it was an “unprecedented blow to Moscow, where Soviet losses in Afghanistan are fading in comparison” to those in Ukraine.
