Ukraine, Russia | The Ukrainian defense stops with a surprising statement

This was stated by Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Volodymyr Havrylov in an interview with the British TV channel Sky News.

The deputy prime minister predicts that by the end of December, Ukrainian forces will have set foot on the Crimean peninsula.

The Crimean region of Ukraine has been under Russian control since 2014, when pro-Russian forces annexed the peninsula.

It has to capitalize on the momentum

Havrylov says Ukrainian forces will continue fighting through the winter to capitalize on the momentum they have built up on the battlefield this fall. This despite the fact that this winter will be very cold.

– They are interested in taking a break in this war to regroup, to bring in more people from the motherland. that’s why we can’t stop. We must advance, he told the channel.

It follows the end of the war until spring

Although the deputy defense minister expects the war to end in spring 2023, he says the Ukrainian military is – and must be – prepared for a long battle with Russia if it can bring in reinforcements.

– If that happens, the war will take some time. But my feeling is that by the end of spring this war will end, says Havrylov.

Hard fighter in Donbass

Fierce battles are being fought between Ukrainian and Russian forces in the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine these days.

The Ukrainian General Staff reported on Friday that fierce artillery and tank battles were being fought near the villages of Vodjane, Krasnohorivka and Marjinka near the largest city of Avdijivka. There is also fierce fighting on the outskirts of the city of Bakhmut and in the Kupyansk area at the front.
