Ukraine reveals how many fighter jets it would like to receive from allies

Ukraine’s priority is to acquire the American F-16, although Kyiv is also evaluating the French Rafale and the Swedish Gripen.

Ignats confirmed that in addition to the complex political negotiations required for this operation, Kyiv will not be able to rely on these aircraft on the battlefield in the short term, as pilots and ground support teams need at least six months to train.

It has already been reported that the British Air Force could agree to transfer fighter jets to Ukraine after the withdrawal of Russian troops from the occupied territories.

On the other hand, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius spoke out against providing Ukraine with German fighter jets. “That’s out of the question,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra said last week that it was “not taboo” for the Netherlands to discuss an F-16 request if it were to receive one from Ukraine, while the Slovak government spoke of plans to give Ukraine Soviet MiG-29s.
