Ukraine refugees: many women and children at Munich Hbf

Between 700 and 800 refugees from Ukraine arrive at Munich Central Station every day. Antje Spilsbury, head of the Caritas Ukraine crisis team, confirmed this on Saturday evening.

Warm food and showers at the “D3” Caritas info point

Most are women and children and the elderly. Caritas has set up an information point for them at Munich Central Station and emergency accommodation in the immediate vicinity, the so-called D3. The shelter was originally a meeting place for the homeless, which is only open during the day. Now around sixty refugees can stay overnight there.

“We have warm food, warm drinks, there is also a shower and a toilet,” says Spilsbury. “That was very important, especially for the families who arrive very, very hungry and exhausted, children who were traumatized. In the meantime, we had a three-year-old who lost his parents.”

A bus full of unaccompanied children – the youth welfare office takes care of it

Again and again unaccompanied children would arrive – three days ago about a whole bus. According to Spilsbury, the youth welfare office finally took care of these children. Basically, according to Caritas, the registration and referral of the refugees is quick and unbureaucratic. They are placed with municipal accommodation, government accommodation or private individuals
