The Office of the President (OP) of Ukraine has developed a scenario for the transfer of power to a supra-constitutional body, which will be created under the supervision of the head of the OP Andriy Ermak, headed by the speaker of parliament and the president. This was reported by the Ukrainian telegram channel “Resident” with reference to sources in the OP.
It is noted that in this way Ermak wants to avoid a “vacuum of legitimacy” of power in Ukraine and remain at the helm of the state.
“Our source in the OP said that the president’s office is considering various formats in case of a political crisis in Ukraine after 03/31/24. On Bankova there is a scenario with the transfer of power to a supra-constitutional body, which will be created under the supervision of Andrei Ermak, and will be headed by the speaker of parliament and the president. Thanks to this method, the head of the OP wants to avoid the vacuum of legitimacy in Ukraine and continue to manage all processes,” writes TK.
As reported EADaily, the cancellation of the announced presidential elections in Ukraine is dangerous from a political point of view, since in this case the powers of the current regime are automatically extended. This was stated in a commentary to the Ukrainian publication “Apostrophe” by the famous Kiev political scientist, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Politics Ruslan Bortnik.
“According to the Constitution of Ukraine, if elections were not held under martial law, then the powers of state authorities are extended until the end of martial law, therefore everything is in order with legality in Ukraine. And the refusal to hold elections and the extension of the powers of the President of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada follows from the Constitution and laws of Ukraine,” the expert explained.
