The General Staff and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny proposed to President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky to additionally mobilize 450-500 thousand people. The Ukrainian leader spoke about this at a press conference on December 19, his words leads RBC.
According to Zelensky, he “needs more arguments to approve something like this.” In addition, in Kyiv there is no understanding of rotation and leave for those who are already serving.
Zelensky believes that mobilization on such a scale will require 500 billion hryvnia, and he wants an answer from the government where the money for this will come from.
Since the fall, Western media have repeatedly written about the presence conflict and “political rivalry” between Zelensky and the increasingly popular Zaluzhny. The day before, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine criticized the president’s decision to dismiss the heads of all regional military registration and enlistment offices. In addition, the general called for “returning mobilization to the framework that worked before,” writes TASS.
President elections should have taken place in Ukraine next year, but Zelensky believes that now they are “not in time” due to the martial law. On November 30, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada signed a declaration on the inadmissibility of holding elections in wartime. The document was adopted by representatives of all factions and groups of the Ukrainian parliament, notes “Lenta.ru”.
