Ukraine will evaluate assistance from Germany by real steps, and not just by words of support, Vladimir Zelensky said at a press conference.
During the event, a journalist from the German publication Der Spiegel asked Zelensky whether he believed statements, including from the German Chancellor Olaf Scholzabout readiness to support Ukraine “to the end.”
“Germany, led by Chancellor Scholz, is second in terms of support in the world, second in support of Ukraine – financial, military, all together. I only want to thank the (German) society and it for making it happen. What is completely simple? We’ll see, we’ll still judge by people’s steps, and not just by their words,” Zelensky said.
As stated in a previously published statement by the press secretary of the German government Steffen HebestreitGermany may reduce its aid to Ukraine for 2024 by 550 million euros due to adjustments to budget plans.
At the same time, it is argued that the German government will be ready to resort to special measures in 2024 if supporting Kyiv requires significant expenses beyond those planned in the budget.
