Ukraine posts names and photos of ten possible ‘butchers of Butsha’ | Abroad

When the Russians left the city, the corpses of civilians littered the streets, some with their hands tied behind their backs. These images sparked worldwide outrage and sanctions. US President Joe Biden even spoke of genocide. In Russia, the brigade has since received recognition from Putin. It cannot be verified whether this group is actually responsible for the slaughter. The United Nations called for an independent inquiry into the events in Butsha.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague has been investigating war crimes in Ukraine during the Russian invasion since early March and is collecting evidence. Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan recently visited Butsha, where forensic investigators are trying to determine what happened.

The Netherlands and other western countries are actively participating in that investigation. Several dozen Dutch military police are going to Ukraine to help investigate alleged war crimes.
