Ukraine postpones entry ban for cars from Transnistria

Ukraine allowed entry of cars with Transnistrian license plates until January 10

Until January next year, cars with license plates from the unrecognized Transnistria will be able to enter Ukraine.

Ukraine has postponed the ban on the entry of cars with Transnistrian numbers until January 10, 2022. This is reported by the Moldovan edition Newsmaker with reference to the information of the Odessa customs.

The ministry said that the Ukrainian authorities abandoned the plan to ban entry for cars with Transnistrian numbers from September 1 after the appeal of the Moldovan Embassy in Ukraine to the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Odessa customs reminded that “neutral numbers” can be obtained at the registration points of vehicles specially opened in Tiraspol and Rybnitsa.

Since September 1, 2018, residents of Transnistria have been given the opportunity to re-register their cars in order to obtain “neutral numbers”, which make it possible to participate in international traffic.

Moldova and Ukraine planned to ban vehicles with the symbols of the unrecognized Transnistria from going abroad from January 1, 2020.

Then, at the request of Chisinau, Kiev postponed the entry into force of this decision to April 1, 2021, and after – on September 1, 2021.

Recall Ukraine joined the EU sanctions against the leaders of the unrecognized Transnistria.
