“Currently, we have a question about where to place the prisoners. We are dealing with this issue through the Ministry of Justice. All the prisoners are being brought together and will be together,” the minister said.
He noted that “very many prisoners” are being detained by Ukrainian soldiers.
“There are a lot of prisoners because they are leaving themselves [militāro] technique. Surrender to our territorial defense forces, to our armed forces, simply to the people in the countryside who tell us that the Russian machinery operators are leaving it and say that they want to leave. “Many of the prisoners are received by the National Guard, the National Police,” the minister said.
“We see in the opponent’s eyes despair, a desire to leave his technique and gather away,”
said Monastirsky. He noted, however, that it would be a mistake to underestimate the enemy.
Deputy Interior Minister Anton Heraščenko previously announced that almost 2,000 Russian soldiers have been captured in Ukraine since February 24.
CONTEXT:
A week after Russia had begun an invasion of Ukraine, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken paid a visit to Europe, visiting Belgium, Poland, Moldova, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. During his visit to Moldova, he promised financial assistance to the country so that one of Europe’s poorest countries can cope with the huge influx of refugees from war-torn Ukraine.
Blinkens also on Sunday, March 6, pointed outthat the United States and Europe are actively discussing ways to crack down on Russia’s fossil fuel industry.
Russia’s attack on Ukraine has provoked widespread international condemnation, and new sanctions are being imposed on Russia.
