The Ministry of Culture is working on proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers and the NSDC to block broadcasting from the territories of Donbass and Crimea, as well as Russia.

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy is preparing an action plan to expand the radio and television broadcasting of Ukrainian TV channels and block Russian ones. This was stated by the head of the department Alexander Tkachenko, writes on Tuesday, May 11, Radio Liberty.

According to the minister, we are talking about blocking the broadcast signal that comes from the uncontrolled territories of Donbass and the annexed Crimea peninsula. Also, restrictions may affect the operation of some cable and Internet providers.

“We are now completing the development of an action plan. This is, firstly, the expansion of our broadcasting, especially in the border territories, the expansion, in fact, of Zeonbud broadcasting, options for how to react and counteract the spread of the signal from Crimea and the occupied territory of Donbass and Russia itself to Ukrainian territories, “Tkachenko said.

The corresponding proposals, the head of the Ministry of Culture continued, will be submitted for approval to the Cabinet of Ministers and the Council of National Security and Defense. The purpose of such a decision is “so that Ukrainian people can be seen more and more easily and so that there was less Russian propaganda in these territories, “the minister emphasized.

We will remind, on February 2, the President Volodymyr Zelenskyy imposed sanctions for five years against three TV channels – 112 Ukraine, ZIK and NewsOne, which called such a decision “political reprisal”.

Soon independent lawyers appealed the sanctions against TV channels in the Supreme Court, but the Court of Cassation, composed of the Supreme Court dismissed the claim.
