This is what Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said when he met the press after a meeting with the Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Tuesday night.
The Prime Minister on the Norwegian gas supply:
The Ukraine crisis, NATO cooperation and the “Baltic pipe” were among the topics in the dialogue between the two heads of state.
– We are both ready to support Ukraine during this war, but also help rebuild when this invasion is over, Støre continued.

Promised gas supply
By the end of the year, the pipeline “Baltic pipe” will be ready and able to deliver Norwegian gas to Poland, Støre told the press conference.
– We have discussed cooperation on energy. Finally, after many years, the Baltic leadership will be ready by the end of the year, Støre said during the press conference after the meeting between him and Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Oslo on Tuesday.
– By the end of the year, it could provide significant gas to the country, Støre promised.
Morawiecki agrees with Støre.
“We are almost done, but we do not think it can be ready earlier than October-November, experts have told me,” said the Polish prime minister.
He further emphasized that it is important for Poland to gain independence from Russian energy, and that Norwegian gas plays an important role in that work.
The pipeline, “Baltic Pipe”, is an upcoming gas pipeline of 800-950 kilometers, which will transport ten billion cubic meters of gas annually from the Norwegian gas fields in the North Sea through Denmark and on to Poland.

The flow of refugees is growing
The meeting between the two prime ministers, which took place in the government’s representation facility, was naturally very much about the Russian invasion and how the countries can assist people fleeing the war.
The Polish Prime Minister praises private individuals who contribute to the evacuation of refugees from Ukraine.
– That’s a good idea. It is our overall responsibility to deal with and resolve this enormous humanitarian crisis. I want to thank private individuals, organizations and companies that contribute to solving this crisis, Morawiecki said when he in Oslo was asked if it is wise for private individuals to organize the evacuation of refugees.
At the same time, the Prime Minister of Poland thanked his Norwegian colleague for his support.
– Prime Minister Støre explained to me today how Norway should deal with this crisis. I would like to thank Støre for his support of several of our organizations, and for his support of organizations such as the Norwegian Refugee Council and the Red Cross.
According to the UN, two million Ukrainians have fled the Russian invasion of the country. Most of them have traveled across the border to Poland, and the Polish authorities are faced with a very demanding task of taking care of the refugees.
