The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, has transferred this Sunday in a telephone conversation to his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelenski, his admiration for the “incredible heroism” of the Ukrainian people.
The prime minister has praised “the courage of the Ukrainian people after the Russian invasion” and praised “President Zelensky’s leadership in the face of such adversity,” Johnson’s office said in a statement.
Johnson spoke with Zelensky on numerous occasions over the past week and after their last conversation on Sunday, he highlighted the “incredible heroism” of the Ukrainian people.
For Zelensky, the next 24 hours are “a crucial period for Ukraine” and Johnson has assured that he would do everything possible to guarantee that “defensive aid from the United Kingdom and its allies reaches Ukraine” after reiterating the United Kingdom’s support “for the sovereignty of Ukraine”.
The British Prime Minister announced a new shipment of humanitarian aid for 40 million pounds (about 48 million euros).
