Ukraine is having trouble expelling Russian soldiers from Kursk areas

MoscowMore than a month after waging war on the territory internationally recognized as part of Russia, Ukrainian troops controlling an area of 1,300 square kilometers and nearly 100 towns in the Kursk region, analysts agree, have not been able to expel Russian soldiers entrenched in Glushkovo and Korenovo.

This, he said, complicates the Ukrainian military command’s plan to close the encirclement of Russian troops deployed along 70 kilometers of the border with the Ukrainian region of Sumy, bordered in the north by the Seim River and its three destroyed bridges.

At the same time, the temporary laying of pontoons made it possible for Russian reinforcements to arrive with units of Pacific Fleet marines and paratroopers. In this context, pro-Kremlin Russian bloggers posted a video on social media showing a column of eight armored vehicles, including tanks and cars, advancing from Korenevo, which until recently was under Ukrainian control, along a highway towards the town of Snagost.

The project Deep Statean unofficial spokesman for the Ukrainian military, admitted on Wednesday that “the situation on the left flank of our contingent in Kursk has indeed worsened. The Russian army began to attack there, after armoured vehicles crossed from the other side of the Seim River.”

This prompted the Rybar channel, which is close to Russian military intelligence, to proclaim that “Russian counterattacks have already begun in the Korenevo district of Kursk,” which, according to military analyst Yan Matveyev, “is logical because it aims to unblock the Glushkovo district, and at the same time it is located quite far from the logistical supply center of the Ukrainian troops in Kursk, which passes through the Sudzha highway, and is more protected.”
