Ukraine is bombing more and more, Russia is urged to use nuclear power

Jakarta

Ukraine continues to bomb the territory occupied by Russia, claiming that it has taken complete control of the logistics hub of Russian troops in the Lyman region. This condition prompted Russia’s allies to ask President Vladimir Putin to use weapons nuclear.

As reported by Reuters on Monday (10/03/2022), this resumption of control of Lyman paves the way for further cutting of Moscow’s supply lines for its troops on the battlefield. Gaining control of Lyman is said to be the most significant result in the fighting over the past few weeks.

The claim to take control of Lyman came after President Vladimir Putin announced the annexation of four regions of Ukraine – Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson – on Friday (30/9) local time.

Lyman is part of Donetsk, annexed to Russia. Kiev and Western countries denounced the annexation of the four Ukrainian regions as a ‘joke’.

The spokesman for the Eastern Ukrainian forces, Serhiy Cherevatyi, said that before the recapture of the Kiev forces, Russia had at least 5,000 to 5,500 troops in Lyman, but the number was lower after the Ukrainians took the territory.

Ukraine claims that by taking Lyman, its forces will be able to advance into the Luhansk region, which Russia claims was fully controlled in early July.

“Lyman is important because it is the next step towards the liberation of the Ukrainian Donbas,” Cherevatyi said, referring to the region of eastern Ukraine, which includes Donetsk and Luhansk. Donbas has been Russia’s main target since it launched its invasion on February 24.

Ukraine claims to take other territories

President Volodymyr Zelensky in a statement on Sunday (2/10) local time, said that the success of the Ukrainian army is not limited to Lyman. Ukrainian troops, Zelensky said, also managed to liberate the residential areas of Arkhanhelske and Myrolyubivka in the Kherson region, also annexed to Russia.

The spokesman for the Ukrainian Eastern troops group, Serhiy Cherevatyi, allegedly said from the Ukrainian news agency Interfax, saying that the Ukrainian troops had managed to retake Torske, a small village in the Donetsk region, 15 kilometers east of Lyman.

There has been no official response from Russia regarding Ukraine’s claim.
