Ukraine is appealing to the Red Cross to remove the bodies of Russian soldiers

“Today, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Smihali met with Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross. During this meeting, we raised the issue of the need to organize the collection and identification of the corpses of soldiers killed by the occupying forces.

“We drew the attention of the Red Cross to the fact that Russia has not yet made a request to release the remains and remains of more than 14,000 people,” Vereshchuk said.

She noted that the Ukrainian side had asked Maurer to suggest that Russia “show respect for its dead soldiers and start talks to collect them from Ukraine.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously announced that the ICRC will ban the use of its emblem on Ukrainian cars carrying out humanitarian missions.
