Ukraine has hit a fighter jet base in a drone attack on Russia, Reuters news agency reports based on Ukrainian sources. Six Russian aircraft were reportedly destroyed and another eight aircraft were seriously damaged.

Russia has not confirmed the attack. The Russian state news agency RIA only reports that 53 Ukrainian drones have been shot down near the air base.

The Morozovsk base where the fighter planes are based is located in the Rostov region bordering Ukraine. Ukrainian sources have to the BBC announced that the fighter jets, the Su-27 and the Su-24, are used on the front line. According to sources from Reuters and the BBC, no one was injured in the attacks on the base.

Rescue workers

Russia also launched attacks on Ukraine today, the governor of the southern city of Zaporizhia said. Three people are said to have died. According to the governor, one of the shellings took place as rescue workers arrived on the scene after another rocket attack 40 minutes earlier.

Double-tapping, the resumption of attacks in the same place after a short break, happens more often. It is a tactic that the Russian army has been using for years.
