Ukraine has lost 4,400 soldiers in the Kursk attack – 2024-08-26 01:05:09

The Ukrainian army has lost more than 4,400 soldiers killed and wounded during its offensive in the Russian region of Kurskwhich began on August 6, reported this Wednesday the Ministry of Defense of Russia.

According to the military statement, Russian forces continued to repel attacks by Ukrainian assault groups in Kursk, which were concentrated around four towns.

As a result of the fighting, kyiv lost 45 men and two tanks in one day, the Ministry of Defense added.

At the same time, operations to “identify and annihilate enemy sabotage groups in forested areas” of Kursk continue to prevent them from advancing further into Russian territory.

Russian medical services today raised the number of civilians killed to 31 and the number of wounded to 143 as a result of the offensive launched by Ukraine in Kursk, which shares a 245-kilometre border with the neighbouring country.

According to kyiv, in more than two weeks of fighting its troops have taken control of nearly 93 towns and more than 1,200 square kilometres of Russian territory, forcing the evacuation of more than 122,000 inhabitants of the area. EFE (I)
