The issue of providing Ukraine with F-16 fighters has already been resolved; they should soon appear in the Ukrainian skies. This was stated by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov.
“As for the F-16, the issue has been resolved, I think everyone knows this. There were details here (at the Ramstein), but they relate to technical issues: transfer, infrastructure readiness, readiness to service these aircraft, preparation of the airfield and flight personnel,” – he said in a comment to ICTV.
At the same time, in response to a clarifying question about when Ukraine will receive Western F-16 fighters, Budanov advised to “wait.”
“It’s already fast, this is the final stage. You know that our pilots are completing their training, so everyone can figure it out, it’s not that difficult. I hope that they will be seen in the sky in the spring,” he concluded.
F-16 for Ukraine: latest news
On February 14, the next meeting was held in the “Ramstein” format. Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov reported on its results. In particular, the supply of F-16 aircraft was discussed. According to the head of the Ministry of Defense, Ukraine is on schedule within the framework of all agreements with partners
Earlier, military expert, military instructor pilot and reserve colonel Roman Svitan suggested that Ukraine may still not have received these fighters due to problems with aviation security, the transfer of equipment, or the unavailability of engineering and technical staff to receive the aircraft. He noted that there are no problems with airfields.
