/ world today news/ Ukraine can replace Russia on the Turkish market, Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Oleksiy Pavlenko announced on Sunday (November 29), quoted by Vzglyad.
“If Turkey’s traditional partners introduce sanctions, then Ukraine can double its supplies of grain, corn and oil. Turkey is our long-standing and reliable partner and we are ready to guarantee the country’s food security,” Pavlenko wrote on Facebook.
According to him, Ukraine has enough production of the appropriate quality to meet the needs of Turkish consumers in case of introduction of export restrictions by Russia. Pavlenko noted that “in the first ten months of 2015, Kyiv exported to Turkey agricultural products worth almost 566 million dollars.”
“In the event that Moscow imposes a food embargo on Ankara, we can significantly increase this indicator”, specified Pavlenko. According to him, it is currently too early to talk about a change in trade between the two countries, but Ukraine is ready to deepen bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree with economic measures against Turkey on Saturday, Vzglyad recalls. Among the sanctions are a temporary ban on hiring workers who are Turkish citizens, as well as the abolition of the visa-free regime with Turkey from January 1, 2016.
