Washington does not want to supply Ukraine with cluster munitions for HIMARS

Ukraine is demanding a US supply of M26 DCIPM unguided cluster munitions for HIMARS and M270 MLRS missile systems.
They are an even more advanced version of the type of cluster munitions that Washington handed over to Kiev’s military, the American publication notes Newsweekexplaining that at the moment the requests of the Ukrainians remain unsatisfied, writes Focus.
Long-range missiles equipped with cluster munitions are the key to defeating Russia’s multi-layered defenses, according to former US Army officer and former adviser to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VSU) Dan Rice.
“If you get 2,000 cluster rockets, I think the war will be over. It’s that simple,” assured Rice, who, according to Newsweek, influenced the administration in Washington on the decision to transfer 155mm cluster artillery ammunition to Ukraine.
According to Rice, the M26 DCIPM will allow Ukrainian troops to more effectively engage Russian artillery, the primary battlefield killer that constantly harasses Ukrainian units trying to penetrate the defenses of Moscow’s forces.
He noted that at a distance of up to 25 kilometers, the Russians are already being hit successfully by 155 mm cluster shells for the cannon artillery. But they, unlike Kiev, have the ability to use cluster missiles with a range of up to 45 kilometers.
“The Russian front and rear units will be destroyed. There are tens of thousands of cluster missiles in Germany lying in warehouses waiting to be destroyed. Instead of doing that, just give them to the Ukrainians. And they will win the war,” said Reiss. , who is currently in the leadership of the American University in Kyiv.
He noted that US units never go into battle without the support of artillery equipped with DCIPM missiles.
“And if the commander is ordered to fight without them, he would call that an illegal order and resign because American soldiers are not getting what they need,” Rice explained.
He also recalled that Ukraine requested cluster shells for the artillery and cluster missiles for HIMARS more than a year ago. Now the cluster shells are finally being delivered, but the cluster missiles are not.
