The issue of fighter jets for Ukraine has been resolved. This was announced in “Telegram” by the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, quoted by “Reuters”.
His social media post comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is holding talks in Brussels about Kyiv’s request for more weapons to fight Russian forces.
“The issue of long-range weapons and fighter jets for Ukraine has been resolved. Details to come” wrote Andriy Yermak.
Subsequently, the Ukrainian president also stated that several leaders of the European Union said at the summit, which he also attended, that are ready to provide Kyiv with aircraft.
“Europe will be with us until we win. I heard from a number of European leaders about their willingness to give us the necessary weapons and support, including the planes,” he announced at a press conference.
Meanwhile, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said that London will not provide Ukraine with fighter jets in the short term.
“This cannot be done immediately – “look and send a whole squadron of planes”, he was categorical.

His statement came after the Ukrainian president visited London yesterday and called on British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to deliver fighter jets to his country. Then Sunak indicated that “nothing has been ruled out”. when it comes to military support for Ukraine, but stressed that the UK would first focus on training Ukrainian soldiers before possibly sending aircraft.
For his part, also today, the Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki insisted that NATO member countries act united in sending fighter jets to Kyiv.
“We will not be the first to send combat planes, but we will respond positively, provided that those who have the most such planes give them to Ukraine,” he said in Brussels ahead of a meeting of EU leaders.
In addition, the Polish Prime Minister stressed the importance of additional sanctions against Russia and clarified that they will be agreed in the next two weeks.
